Hard Wood Single Load (1 Cubic metre)
BATH LOGS superior hardwood firewood is very dense, the dense hard wood creates a hot, long lasting fire without a lot of smoke or sparks. The wood also creates hot coals which give out radiant heat for a long period of time vs softwood.
Our hardwood will produce more BTU's (British Thermal Units) than a softwood.
BATH LOGS dense hardwood logs takes longer to season or dry out (typically between 1-2 years) vs our softwood the hardwood is harder to light compared to softwood but once it is lit it will burn longer. We recommend using our kindling wood to help, when lighting your hardwood logs.
Did you know? Just because the tree is classified as a hardwood doesn't necessarily make it the best choice. For example, a low quality hardwood is actually softer and less dense than a good quality softwood! BATH LOGS Hardwood is a high grade hardwood for burning which will provide a great heat source for your fire.
Typical Uses for the BATH LOGS HARDWOOD:
- Wood Burners
- Open Fire Places
- Pizza Ovens
- Fire Pits
- Log Burners
- Stove

BATH LOGS High quality hardwood firewood is one of the main factors for cost-effective, efficient and enjoyable use of your fire, log burners or woodstoves. It is also essential to comply with the law and avoid contributing to a potential deterioration in urban air quality. Additionally, appropriate maintenance is essential to keep your chimney flue and fireplace, log burner working well and maximise its lifespan.
The quality of seasoning (moisture content) is one of the key determining factors for firewood quality, as it affects it’s calorific value, ease of combustion and storage. If the wood is too wet, the efficiency is reduced, as some of the heat from the fire is being used to drive off the moisture. If the wood is too dry, it will burn too fast. BATH LOGS fire wood is quality seasoned wood, ensuring you have the best wood to burn.
The calorific value(CV) is expressed in kWh and is the amount of energy (heat) encapsulated in the wood for a given weight. It increases as moisture content decreases. It is a measure of the energy content of a fuel, and p/kWhso is used to compare cost-effectiveness between fuels.
Appropriate size and shape ensure the logs are easy to store, handle and feed into the appliance.
Contaminants may cause health hazards. Our firewood is free from physical contaminants (e.g. stone, metal, rubber, plastic), and chemical contaminants (e.g. any form of treated or painted wood, MDF, heavy metal compounds, halogenated organic compounds, creosote).
We consistently supply firewood to the following specifications:
Species Mixed hardwood species Seasoning Fully seasoned using air drying: Moisture content never -25% and is usually between 15% and 20% Dimensions Split logs, averaging 200mm in length Calorific value Typically above 3.5MWh/t Contaminants Contamination-free Classification Meeting specifications of classes A1 or A2 of BS 14961-5:2011 Smoke Producing very little smoke (dependent on fire, log burner or stove model and maintenance) Format Loose or netted (standard net, indicative weight 10kg; or large net, indicative weight 12-15kg) Bespoke We can source single species, decorative and non-standard sized firewood
